Hello San Fran!!

Hey everyone and a big hello from San Fransisco, we had a great flight to San Fran and rested up well last night, we are in a great room right on the bay around about 500m from pier 39 which is great, today we hopped on a bus and did a loop of the city prior to hopping on a boat across to Alcatraz.

It was a fantastic experience, the conditions they had to endure were dreadful and it was a sobering sight to see the City through the small windows so close but absolutely unnatainable.

We had lunch at Chowders on the pier and we had a bowl of clam chowder with fish, calamari and chips, they serve the chowder in a hollowed out sourdough roll which was delicious and very filling.

This city is amazing with a diversity of buildings and cultures unlike any other place i have seen, two major earthquakes have shaped the city into old and new sections as re building has occurred and some of the Elizabethan architecture is truly stunning.

Tomorrow we have a day at the Academy of Natural Sciences and guess what the Museum next door has a King Tutenkamen exhibition!!! The Irony of it all!

Catch you all tomorrow Love Ralf & Sam xx

  2. Ralfie - another beautiful blog. Your descriptions are really bringing the place to life - well done.
Loved the photo's - Sammie - you looked lovely in your outfit. Although - I haven't noticed many new garments......what happened to shopping??
We just loved San Fran, loved the lifestyle, loved the cosmopolitan feel. We found getting around so easy. We ended up buying a day ticket on the trams (I think from memory it was called the L line or something like that) and went exploring. The food is sensational everywhere.
It is also so exercise friendly. We found stacks of walks and did some amazing step climbs literally up the sides of what felt like sheer drops at some points. How they build houses in some of these places is beyond me.
Have a colleague who is always saying come work over here (he lives down near the piers). Who knows - maybe one day for a stint.
Anyhoo -have to go. Only have 20 mins for lunch. Last day of work for me today. Start my short holiday before leaving. Although - between getting all the appt's done (hair, teeth, waxing blah blah blah - hmmm, maybe a little too much information) and shifting out of the end of the house - I don't know that it will be much of a holiday.
Lots of love and keep up the fantastic blogs! I love them.
    Love

  3. Hey guys, wow, San fran is so cute and looks like it has a sort of dsmall town feel, for a big city.

We had a bit of a sad day here, my fish, the one and only God died when i got home from work, i was very upset, but sebastion was so lovely about it all, and even helped me bury him in the back yard, in a nice little spot, where he can see the house and the garden. I Burried him with his little diniosaur friend, so i think that will make him happy. Im not quite sure what to do with his tank now, but im sure we can come up with something when you guys return.

Well im missing you guys a lot and im really excited for you to come home. Its going to get me through my weekend at work knowing that when i get home sunday you to will be there.
I love you and miss you both,
    Love Steph xx

  5. Roast Lamb! My goodness you guys are spoilt. So let me see if I have this correct. Lynn has cleaned your house from top to toe, Gerv has painted it schmick, Seb has done all the gardens, I have mowed the lawns and to top it off you get a limo from the airport to a beautiful roast meal. Somehow that spells spoilt to me - I think it is all of us that deserve the holiday!
Make the most of your last days.
Alex's first day of leave today - although she is out at the Raaf base. She says to say where is the blog.....how is she supposed to post something if there isn't a new one up! Tee Hee
