Hello from London Town

Hello everyone well we are finally settled in here in our London hotel, it is in a fantastic location right in the heart of London at a place called Marble Arch, our drive into London was lets say interesting with Narelle ( our Sat Nav ) freezing about 10 miles out of the city centre this lead to 5 minutes of panic before we managed to convince her to help us get to our hotel, all in all the driving has been great with little or no holdups on the road and generally plenty of time to see things before we had to head off to the next B&B, the last hurrah was trying to find the Hertz office with no Sat Nav and high frustration levels, still we made it and are now on the next part of our journey.

Our room at the Thistle Hotel marble Arch is fantastic very roomy and comfortable, I have paid for WI FI and unfortunately last night we had a few issues and the link kept dropping out but today it seems to be working well, we had a 1/2 day London tour on a bus and due to the Bank Long Weekend the roads were empty so the tour guide actually took us all over places she normally cant get to and that included a walking tour that ended up at Buckingham Palace, the weather was with us today and we had a really good time, we finished our tour with a walk to Harrods, Sammy has been dreaming of going there for years and she managed to while away a couple of hours looking at the amazing things that are inside, for an example i saw a large flat screen tv set that was wait for it .........70,ooo Pounds True Story!!

I heard a story about Harrods on my last trip that goes like this, upon hearing that you can buy absolutely anything at Harrods an American President ( his name escapes me ) asked at the Harrods food court for an Elephant steak, the response from the Harrods staff member was a simple question......... will that be an Indian or African Elephant sir?

I will hand over control to Sam now for her first views on London,

Well hello everyone, if you are still with me it is now my turn. News flash- I LOVE LONDON!!!! It is amazing, so alive , so multicultural, so over the top. Harrods oh wow- Harrods is more full on than Los Vegas! Big call I know but I am comfortable in making it. The tour this morning was great although we didnt have such a great start... we woke up at 7.34 and then we had to be downstairs for the tour at 8.00, so 2 quick showers, 3 bites of breakfast and a mouthful of tea later we went downstairs and I had got the time wrong by 15mins. Anyway it took us a little while to wake up properly but then it was great. I went to welcome drinks last night and we are the only Aussies on this tour with lots of Americans. They seem ok but I dont think we will be doing much with them on the tour. After Harrods we walked back to our hotel through Hyde Park, a lovely walk although we were feeling a little tired by then.

Last night on some advice from an Australian lady I met while waiting for Ralf to find his way back to the hotel after dropping off the car, we went to a the Sportsman, just round the corner which is a casino but downstairs had a silver service restaurant where for 10 pounds each we had a 2 course dinner, it was delicious. Steph you would love the fashionn in Harrods and the stores in Knightsbridge. I have put on a photo dad reluctantly took of a dress in a shop window.

well more later big higs from London XXXXXXXX S

  1. Good Morning Lovelies!

So glad that you are enjoying London. As you know - we just love it to bits! Everytime we go it is just so much fun - after 3 visits we still haven't tired of it. It will always be our drop off point for Europe methinks. And we love the theatre!

Hey - we have been to the Sportsman too! Very nice. We normally stay around Leicester - but were out touring one day and got the same recommendation from some Aussies (don't you just love Aussies abroad - helpful cheerful mob)! How amazing!

Harrods - I could get lost there for days. When Alex is at her conference I normally catch the bus or the tube out there in the morning - go everywhere inside....... and yes I believe you about the 70 000 pounds... and then have coffee and something in the eatery. Then it is off to buy my Harrods loot which always includes a Christmas decoration. Then I walk back to the hotel. The walks are beautiful in London - so much to see!

I see you made it to Albert Hall. Did you get the tour inside as well. The history is just amazing and the acoustics just blow me out of the water.

Well - I can see you guys are not out of bed yet. I've signed into Skype and you aren't around. It is now 6.15am so I am off to the gym. Will write you messages later as I am sure I will miss you.

    Lots of Love

  2. Hello Again lovelies!

Well it is nearing 4 in the afternoon here. Steph and I have just returned from the beach with the boys! Boo Boo is just one big bundle of fluff at the moment - it is moulting season! Tried to wash him as much in the ocean as possible - but it hasn't seemed to diminish the white cloud much. They were both excited to be at the beach and had a ball - the only dampener being a big wash of seaweed had taken up much of the beach - but not too worry - we found a fresh patch of sea to swim.

Sammy - haven't fogotten - I will wash boo boos linen tomorrow so that it is nice and clean for him!

Steph told me about your call to her at like 2.30 in the morning! Poor thing!

Well - will be around for a little while longer - have skype on in case you get out of bed any time soon.

    Lots of love

  4. Dear Ralfy & Sim Sam!

Well I can't believe it - first snubbed on Skype this morning and now I am at work getting my first cuppa for the day and no blog!! What's happening?? Is Mini Meeks leading you astray. Are you shopping so much you can't afford the internet connection? Did you drop your computer? Or worse still did you leave it in another hotel B&B?? I just can't believe it!

Oh well - I suppose it is now just a case of me going about my day with no word from you guys! What's a girl supposed to do.

Hope you are whooping it up! When is the We Will Rock You concert? We loved it. I actually dragged Tig to it - she said she didn't know any of the music. Well - how wrong she was. I think apart from two songs the whole night she was there singing out loud, clapping, and laughing! Oh and don't forget to get snacks on the way in - it is really the done thing. Everyone has icecreams or sweets and the like! Hmm, I think I remember there being a coffee shop not too far from there - a couple of nice big coffees and water will go down famously!

    Lots of love
