After our first day of navigating for ourselves it has quickly become apparent that a little extra assistance was required! Hence the purchase of a SatNav, from our new favourite store Tescos for 69 pounds. What a difference NArelle makes, she is firm but kind. We have managed to find our way to the home of golf at St Andrews and discovered the wonderful ruins of an old Cathedral (1272). We even managed to play 18 holes and Ralfie got his first hole in one onn the third hole, followed by another on the fifth. Sam tried hard (yes I did), but apparently my lasck of experience tolled in the end. We stayed at a lovely BB overnight between Perth and Crief, with 2 wonderful hosts and a rather indignant Highland terrier.
We are currently having coffee at Starbucks Inverness awaiting our Lochness experience tomorrow.
Gerv sounds like the house looks amazing, and 1 inch of water doesnt count as rain in Qld, that is just a spring shower. Trishy treasure hunt is going well confident of finding a pict'ish thingy tomorrow, especially now we have NArelle helping us. Hope Alex is on the mend and hope we can get Viber working soon. Lynnie the room last night was pure you, lovely photo of Ralfie sitting sipping tea in the girly room. Last night we had dinner at an Indian restaurent in Methvan (middle of nowhere) best food ever, mmmmmm.
Time to post pictures and get on to Birchdale our bed for the night, we look forward to hearing from you all next time we can find internet access and we hope you like our firsst shared blog.
Big hugs to you all
RAlf, Sammy and Mini Meko (who it seems likes Indian food)

Good Morning Lovelies!
ReplyDeleteWell -loved the title of the blog - got a real laugh out of that! Lets hope Narelle speaks Italian because you will certainly need it there. We managed with paper maps in all places except Firenze - which is technically quite hard in the centre of town.
Your room sounds beautifully English! We came across a couple like that even at Hotels. The Royal Britannia was one in Manchester - OMG - antiques, brocade, chaise lounges, massive drapes and just amazing english stuff!
St Andrews sounded fabulous! But tell us - it looks like Putt Putt - that golf club and hole marker are seriously undersized! Glad you got a couple of holes in one though! Fabulous!
Indian Food - ahh - a puppy after our own heart!
Alex is still at home - she is taking today and Wednesday off. She is seriously fatigued - but hopefully today will see her much more on the mend.
Have a wonderful day!
Lots of love

ReplyDeleteTodays tasks and notes include:
Loch Ness - a 'Nessy' of somesort - remember the framing thing lovelies -.. and - please a pebble from the shore - but make it a pretty one or at least make it have a good story!
As for Recommendations - well you should be able to find heather in bloom around here. It is a wee low plant of the highlands. If it is in bloom 'tis good luck to carry a bloom in your wallet - or Sammy - you can perhaps squish it into your newly acquired travel diary! And don't forget to take a photo of the heather!
Weather here - still crappy! Ralf - you certainly cursed our weather by getting Gerv to paint your place. Now Meeko has cabin fever! Not pretty!
Had to get a course of strong very specific antibiotics for Alex. I expect that by tonight she will be feeling much much better!
I will wander over later and check your mail about IPrimus and get back to you.
As for your travel lady - well - I chatted to her. She wasn't that particularly friendly on the phone even though I was light and bubbly. I explained the situation and she said that there was definitely no communication to her office to change the tickets and that she would get onto the ticket agent and have it sorted for you for when you get back.
So that is the update so far.
Have a grand drive and hopefully you have now found a laundromat so that you are smelling sweet as daisies!
Lots of love

Back at home and very sad! We miss you both. Thank´s for the wonderful 3 days and enjoy your trip. Andreas & Stefanie
ReplyDeleteHey you two!
ReplyDeleteAnother Castle to do today - Urquhart - we are so envious. We drove during pelting storms so did not quite get to the Loch. Did you know that Urquhart dates back to around 400 - 600 AD - impressive!
Loved the chat today - great to hear that you guys are doing so well. Have an awesome day.

And now for today's funny ditty:
ReplyDeleteRalf and Sam were both patients in a mental hospital.
One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool , Ralf suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Sam promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out.
When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Sam's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.
When she went to tell Sam the news she said,
'Sam, I have good news and bad news:
- The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love... I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.
- The bad news is, Ralf hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.'
Sam replied, 'He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry... Now how soon can I go home?'
Happy Mental Health Day!
Just a little joke that came our way and Alex loved it so much she wanted to share it with you!
Have a wonderful day together.

Pictures look great! I feel very home sick right now. You found Tesco - they sell anything and everything!
ReplyDeleteHave fun searching for Nessy. Word of warning picking heather is bad luck unless you are from a gypsy background- and if you bring it back home you will find out how much bad luck it can bring- Otherwise it is lucky. :-)
Missing you loads.
Love Joey and Ruby
PS Ruby is missing her friend Rufus so we bought he some new toys 'Dolly' and 'Big Ted' to help but they are very naughty toys and get told off a lot. C
