Ok enough of the rain already!!

As you may have gathered it rained all day today making our drive to York quite miserable, upon arrival we walked around York it is quite a beautiful city but dampened somewhat by the persistant rain, all of these tourist cities are park and walk zones which is very good as all of the city streets are closed to traffic so the walking through the streets is made quite enjoyable.

Ok what is your problem with my very nice Scotland shirt???? maybe you are right i have a very nice blue top i can wear instead!!

We are very excited about going to the antiques fair at Doncaster Racecourse tomorrow heres hoping we find some bargains among the 400 stalls, we have been looking around the antique stores in the towns and are thoroughly loving the experience, i have even bought an eyepiece magnifying glass to check the hallmarks!!

Following the fair we are off to London to drop off our car and begin the next leg of our journey, we are staying at a hotel in Marble Arch right in the middle of London!

Hi everyone, it was a very long drive today and our last B&B is actually a motel just off the M1. I was a little worried about this one but the room is clean and tidy so it will be ok for the night. As driving through York today we saw all these beautiful B&Bs and wondered why we couldn't find them in our book as they are closer to where we go tomorrow, anyway we are here safe and sound with quick internet, hence the extra photos. We had Linner today at a pub in York and I had roast of the day and could only eat about a 1/3 of it! They do great Yorkshire puddings there as you would expect. Can't believe London awaits after approved shopping tomorrow! Steph, I really dont think Melbourne will be on the cards 10 days after I get back... there just wont be the time or money- sorry babe, I thought you werent going as I havent heard about it for 4 months! Thank you for your messages, keep them coming. Now back to Ralf...

Ok guys our next blog will be from Ye Olde London Town and hopefully we will be all antiqued out, Trish keep the photos coming from home and loving the Skype with you, great to hear from all of you on the blog so until next time Cheerio Love Ralf & Sam & MM xxxxx

  1. Good Morning lovelies!

Well - been to the gym after skyping with you two! And now you are both sleeping soundly. Love all the photo's the look fantastic.

Yorkshire Puddings......yum! My grandma used to make them on the woodstove when I was little.......we used to have them with roast beef and they always were hotly contested for.

London......love London..... so much to do - so little time.

Well - Sam - after the phone debacle.... you will see when you get home that there will be several messages from us with hints and tips. A lot of good that will do you now - so will have to remember some of them here.

Go to Marks & Spencers - they have the best value for money and greatest ranges of bra's (sorry everyone.... but you will just have to put up with the girly tips)..

Also - Nero has good coffee and Pret a Manger has great food - always fresh and great quality. Sammy - always a nice range of soup! Had to laugh at the mushroom debacle - you know everytime I want soup it ends up being pumpkin - go figure!

I will have to ask Alex some of the other London Tips that we sent you. Also - will log onto one of the other picture blogs and send you your next treasure hunting adventures.

Oh - and go onto our blog - some more photo's for you - some of them a blast from the past.

    Lots of love
    Trish & Meeks

  2. Hi guys

Sorry Sam to read someone pinched all your bra's?
Cant give you much advice on where to purchase some. Must of been a deflating experience.

Love the photos guys makes me want to go on holidays. I think Trish will be taking a few more house shots today, starting to take shape. God I'm good.

Weather forecast for today and tomorrow rain, rain rain. Weather forecast for the next 7 days rain showers. Still doesn't rain in Queensland at this time of the year.

  3. Hi BB and Ralfy,
Loving the photos. The one of the two of you on the London Hop on Hop off reminded me of my experience... it's chilly sitting up the top!! Still a great way to see London though!
Totally agree with the serving of food over there Sandra. I remember we went out to lunch while down in Cornwall, I had roast of the day and it really could have feed three people, it was huge!! Yorkshire puddings are just like the ones Mum and I make, yum, yum!
Hope you had fun at the Antigue Fair and managed to pick up some bargains. I'm sure that eye piece helped you spot the bargains Ralfy!!
Can't wait to hear all about the different B&B's you stayed in, the breakfast room you were sitting in Sandra, looked lovely.
Hope the rain stays away for the rest of your UK stay. We have had a lovely sunny week here. I am slowly managing to get on top of the garden tidy up. Just soooo many things to do and sooooo little time to do them all in. If only days could be about another 6 hours longer, I'm sure I would manage to acheive soooo much more. (Note that would be 6 extra hours to do things at home, not at work!!)
Keep safe and happy. Can't wait for the next update.
    Love you and miss heaps.

  4. Well it worked Ralf the rain has come here it has not stopped all day, so I thought I'd paint the sections of the gates that are under cover. Worked really well for the first couple of hours but once the rain started coming in sideways all my paint began disappearing onto the floor. Oh well traps from young players! I will see what damage is done in the morning, if it stops raining.

  5. Hi Ralf and Sandra,

We seem to have trouble communicating
through the blog. None of our trials work.

Wish you good speed and weather for the
    reminder of the holiday.

    Love you both,
    Mum and Dad

  6. Hey Ralf & Sim Sam!

I bet you are excited to be going to the Bargain Hunt Central today! As for me - it is about 9 at night and I am just getting to my lunch that Trish made for me. It is a nice thai curried cauliflower and lentil soup.

So - the wet has made a huge day of MVA's - I will be here until late in the night! I'll ring Trish in a moment to make sure she goes to bed - I think she may have to come get me in the morning. It is such a mess here at the moment - and that is just ICU - I would hate to be in emergency! All of them are going off the scale at the moment!

Well you two - have a wonderful treasure hunt. I will make sure Trish puts up the treasure hunt for London on the blog tomorrow.

    Lots and heaps of love
    Alex
