Dear Weary Travellers, It looks as if the sun has come out for you while in London. So much to see and do and like you said you can just walk and walk and walk! The tube is great, although during peek hour times can be a little squishy!! I loved the Tower of London and aftering watching The Tudors and reading all about King Henry VIII, it was amazing to be walking around such an historic site. I loved the walk through Hyde Park too. If you managed to walk as far as Kensington Palace, there was a lovely afternoon tea rooms there. Hope Ralfy has managed to purchase his fob watch. You obviously didn't have any luck at the Antique Fair. The sun has been out here since the weekend, so I have been busy, busy, busy. Gervy is still complaining about the rain and storms up your way, but I think he is still managing to paint away! Enjoy the show tonight. At least you will be able to sit down for a couple of hours!! Look forward to your next blog. Love and miss you heaps. Lynn xoxo
Sorry I have been silent so far on the blog front, school has been one non stop whirl of activity and hard yakka. The pictures look amazing and I am so jealous of some of the things you are seeing - Stonehenge, OMG... Have you found any priceless antiques with your eye glass yet Ralfie? And Sammy - loving the travel wardrobe, looking so chic and LOVING the jacketey thingy.
Some good news on my end - Pine Rivers has asked me to stay on until the end of the year in their Health and Physical Education department, so at least I know all the long hours I have been putting in are paying off. I have also found out that next year there is one teacher retiring and one teacher returning to supply work from that department, so all energies are being focused on impressing the HOD and the Deputies... Hope you are having an amazing time and you get your second wind so that you are not so tired for the rest of the trip, can't wait to hear all about it when you get home.
Hello Lovelies -looks like it is a mini meeks fest! I am sure he had to stay home to recover from all that partying! And boy - you are lucky to get him back from the ravens!
Thanks for the message on the blog! Excellent work! Hey - I might not be able to skype with you in the morning (your morning) as I have to go out and run some errands before picking up Alex - so we may have to hook up in Paris!
Oh - talking of Paris - here is your list:
Treasure Hunt: Something from the Moulin Rouge - especially if it involves feathers or sequins or both..... and then something Notre Damish - especially if it is gothic looking.
Then - for your recommendations it goes:
Visit the Louvre and get photos standing near the pyramid. Find Maxims and even if you just buy a small tin of chocolates - it is something that features a lot in films.
So that is the treasure hunting for Paris.
But now - the thing to do is (and I know your breakfast is included in your room) but you need to wander past any of the cafe's for coffee and have coffee and baguette. They serve this beautiful warm baguette with butter and generally home made jams. We had this every day and it was delightful.
With Notre Dam - don't expect it to be all black and wizened looking. I walked straight past it as I was looking for what I had always seen in brochures. It is now clean and pristine. The front is impressive but if you have a chance - go out the back - the structure is impressive from that angle and there are (on weekends) bands playing out along the river and on the bridges.
Also - if you find the Alexandre Bridge (there are a stack of Bridges) get a photo please - we have a collection of Alex named things in our photos so one with you guys would be great!
Well we are off on our second adventure trip and would love you to join us as we explore the UK and the beautiful countryside of Tuscany.
We look forward to sharing it with you and reading your comments. Ralf and Sandra
