Howdy Campers we have encountered our first day of rain since we arrived and it happened when we were at the most picturesque lakes district, no matter we still enjoyed a great time walking down the streets of Keswick ( reminds me of Maleny ) and had a cup of pea and ham soup with a baguette for lunch it was really nice.
This morning we left our hotel and visited Hadrians wall which was a barrier built by the Romans to protect the lower half of England which they ruled at the time from the celtic tribes of the north, it used to run right across England from left to right and must have been very impressive in its day the ruins that remain today tell the tale of that time when man went to great effort to protect themselves from harm.
We finally got all our washing done at a great little b&b and hung it out on their line only to have it start raining at 5am drenching it all, but the wonderful staff there put it all in their dryers and by the time we had finished breakfast it was all dry and ready to pack, ( strange to get excited by laundry but believe me you do )
Steph Trish paid the optus bill for me and it was 115$ so i suggest you check your usage and work out why you went over your cap? thanks for your messages by the way and thanks for taking Rufus out for us im sure he loves it!!
Girls, Girls, Girls I hugged the hoodie for myself not for you Lynny or for you Stephanie so stop fighting about it!! Gerv glad to hear you are getting into Bargain Hunt perhaps we can compare thoughts when we return with our stash of antiques!! you should be just about finished the house by now so feel free to put your feet up and enjoy sunny sunny Queensland.
Talk to you all tomorrow and Mum why not try setting up a new account under another name to get on??
Love you all Ralf & Sam & MM xxxx
PS Great to hear from you Sebastion hope your assessments went well and get Molly to join Viber so we can message you, ask steph if you are unsure.
PSS great to talk to you T as always, we look forward to hearing your voice daily!!

Good Morning lovelies!
ReplyDeleteGreat to nearly hear your voices at 5.30 in the morning! Viber nearly worked - but shame - it kept dropping out. When you wake up in the morning let me know and we will try again.
Loved Keswick! You are right - very touristy and very much Montville / Malenyish. But it also makes for some fabulous photo's too.
We know only to well the joys of getting washing done. We get so excited at any stop that has a washing machine - and a dryer - well what luxury! The undies and bras on the parcel rack of the car are always a feature in our photo's!
Loved the armour Ralfy - couldn't mistake it was you - as soon as we saw the silkies it was a dead giveaway. Loving the new shirt! Is that the feature one for the trip perhaps!
Great photo of you Sam at Hadrians wall. Loved the history lecture as well! You can always tell who is writing! We hope one day to do the walk from one side of the country to the other along the wall. Apparently it takes about 3ish weeks - but the pubs in between are wonderful so I hear!
Will type you another message during the day. Have a few photo's to post on our old blog for you. I misplaced my download lead and only discovered it yesterday afternoon when I was taking photo's of the place for Gerv. He is amazing! He has totally reconstructed one of the posts that has rotted all the way through! Very very very thorough and so particular.
Okay - off to the gym now and then I will write back with the treasure hunt and recommendations!
Lots of Love

PS -Alex says she will write later today when she gets to work!

Nice threads Dad!
ReplyDeleteWith an outfit like that you like like you're just about ready to put some imperialism to the test!
Sucks about the weather but it's great to hear it's not dampening your spirits!
Hey Ralf & Sim Sam!
ReplyDeleteWell at work and have done rounds and just about up to speed with all the patients here. Glad to sit down though let me tell you. Thank goodness for the antibiotics - I hadn't realised it had gotten so bad. But on the mend. At the moment the registrars are calling me Dr Kermit - I don't know if that is because I look green or I sound like I am going to croak - but either way it is quite funny.
Hadrians wall - how wonderful. So want to do the hike there across the countryside..... One day! Love the photos. Had to chuckle as I listened to your phone call last night. We know only too well the issue of uploading photos where the connection is slow. I cant tell you how frustrating it was in South America - even at some of the nicer places the lines were very very very frustrating. I know Trish wrote several blogs that never got published. She would go to post it only to be timed out and then everything was lost! Eventually she went for writing them in a word document and cutting and pasting it just in case!
I saw Boo Boo a couple of times whilst I was sick. He comes over for a play date with Meeks when Trish is picking up sticks down the paddock. He is very good and has settled in nicely to his routine.
Must go - have results to look at and to get on with the day. Will most likely put some more comments up later on tonight as I am on call so don't expect to be leaving here until 9ish!
Lots of Love
Alex
PS - Just adore the MM photo's too - l hear he is a camera hog - I think he loves the puppyratzi!

Good morning Happy Travellers,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday and the rain didn't dampen your spirits for adventure.
Love the armour Ralfy. I can just picture you, battling it out in years gone by, to protect your beautiful Fair Maiden Sandra!! Hope you guys are coming across some lovely little antique bits for your collection! I thinks it's not until you have travelled and seen such history, as you are now seeing, that you realise just how young a country Australia is. It's amazing to think what life would have been like all those many years ago. That's my little bit of d&m for today!!
Look forward to hearing about todays travels tomorrow.
Keep safe.
Love you lots
Lynn xoxo
Hello hello!
ReplyDeleteWell for the Treasure Hunt component you have something Shakespearish... well you are going to Stratford-upon-Avon! And then to Stone Henge - something mystical!
So - as for the challenge/recommendation - if you can't get a paddle down the Avon - at least geta picture with the paddlers going down the Avon. Your challenge though lies in Stonehenge..... Try to get a picture of as many of the stones (well - boulders) in a picture as possible without any people present! I know I know - it is going to be hard to stop MM from popping into the shots!
Lots of Love

Oh - and I forgot to say - the little Church - I am pretty sure it is called the Holy Trinity Church (my notes are a little blurred from the rain that day) - but it is in Southern Lane - have the graves of both William Shakespere and Anne Hathaway. And - if you are after you very own copy of the Magna Carta - they actually have some there in their gift shop.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs again

Hmm - having a little more difficulty in downloading the photo's from my camera to the computer - never fear Sammy - you will have photo's this afternoon after your travels to be able to look at!

Hey there Ralfy & Sim Sam!
ReplyDeleteWell - by now you are probably well and truly on the road. The day here looks like it is fining up - but that is only my birdseye view every once in a while as I pass the corridor.
Heading for a long evening!
Hope you bought some nice Whiskey when you were in Scotland! Now that you are in England - you will have to look for Scotch Tablet Fudge. Oh - and Pret A Manger is a lovely chain food stor that is just beautiful. Great range of fresh food - and I found it had good coffee. Starbucks is crappy to me - oh the other one is Nero I think and it has good wi-fi from memory....
Gotta fly - have a wonderful day! Enjoy Stonehenge!
Say hello to Narelle for me!
Love
Alex
